From ‘The Words of Our Elders’
Well, I grew up here in Pedro Bay. I think I was fourteen when they sent me to Homer to go to school. I left in October and I came back in April. Growing up it was...really...nice. You know we didn't go to school, so we just played out all the time and we had chores. But, we still had lotta time to play. And we played out [laughs]. You know, in the spring we'd go out and we'd play until probably after midnight; playing ball games, and we'd hide and go seek, and Washington poke [laughs], and chicky on the roof, and aunty over and. [laughs] what else did we play? And it was, it was just real neat....
